My story

My name is Irene and I am an accountant in learning from Norfolk, UK, who has a passion for art, craft and IT.

I decided to dedicate this blog to IT as a diary to capture my learning process, a portfolio to showcase my skills.

I enjoyed IT since school, we learnt to code in BASIC and Pascal back in 90s.
Then in High School we were introduced to MS Windows 97, I enjoyed MS Access in particular.
Further at uni, where I studied accountancy, we learnt MS Access in more depth.

I started using MS Access to solve problems at work and in 2012 designed custom CRM for the environment company I worked at as Transport Administrator.

If there is an opportunity to learn new IT skills, I always take it. So when in 2010 my husband needed a website, I learned how to put one together in Joomla environment and created a fully functioning online shop.

When I needed to optimise my routine for accountancy jobs, I used Excel Macros and other tools to automate repetitive tasks.

Last year in April 2022 I worked for the charity, which fully worked on cloud, so I got to know Office 365.
That's when I discovered how powerful O365 is!

I started with designing SharePoint sites as portals to display and navigate through Finance How To info as part of Intranet. Then, in September, I started to learn Power BI and last December I hooked on Power Apps .

I decided to concentrate on using "budget" tools, so my solutions can help smaller companies and charities.
That's why for data storage I use SharePoint Lists; Canvas Power Apps and Customized List forms are my data input tools.

I plan to move on to learn more about DataVerse and model driven apps later after I complete my ACCA studies.

I will try to mention everyone, whose videos, blogs and forum replies helped me to get where I am now and I hope you can learn something from me too.

My talented eldest child draw the wonderful banner for me, while I had fun creating GIF logos. 😊

Happy low coding
